A Flavorful Fall at The Old Mill

Fall at The Old Mill is one of our favorite times of the year. The leaves begin to turn with spectacular hues of orange, gold, and red while scarecrows, pumpkins, cornstalks, and hay bales adorn the property - perfect for festive photo ops. As the leaves begin to fall and the evening air turns cool and crisp, we find ourselves craving the familiar comforting foods of the Fall season as we gather with friends and family. Hearty entrées, warm soups, pumpkin pie (well, pumpkin everything!), and warm beverages to sip on, just to name a few!

Here at The Old Mill, seasonal Fall favorites return to our store shelves and restaurant menus. Our makers have been busy developing new recipes like an Apple Walnut Oatmeal Cookie to serve for the season.

Fall is a season to gather. Join us with friends and family at The Old Mill to embrace the feelings and flavors of this beautiful season of Fall in the Smoky Mountains.

The Old Mill Farmhouse Kitchen

Baked fresh in our Old Mill ovens, loaves of Pumpkin Bread and Sweet Potato Bread are available for sampling and to take home. Homemade cookies like our new Apple Walnut Oatmeal Cookie make the perfect grab-and-go treat; they taste just like Fall, especially when you enjoy them with a cup of mulled cider or hot coffee as you shop. Our jam maker will be preparing homemade Apple Butter in September when local apples hit peak season, perfect for pairing with whole loaves of The Pottery House Cafe signature baked breads! And beginning early November, freshly-baked Cranberry Walnut Bread — an employee favorite — returns just in time for Thanksgiving.

The Old Mill Candy Kitchen

Nothing tastes more like Fall than a decadent piece of our signature homemade Pumpkin Fudge, made with real pumpkin, cream, and butter! We’re also preparing Pumpkin Taffy and Maple Walnut Fudge for the season. And for another festive seasonal treat, be sure to stop by to catch a glimpse of our candy makers as they craft Caramel Apples by dipping fresh apples in our rich homemade caramel!

The Old Mill Creamery

Enjoy our homemade Sweet Potato Bread and Pumpkin Bread by the slice for a morning snack with freshly-brewed coffee, and come back later for our house-churned Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream and Salted Caramel Ice Cream on a waffle cone.

The Old Mill General Store

Make Fall mornings cozy and sweet with Apple Cinnamon Pancake Mix or Pumpkin Pancake Mix. Did you know our versatile Pumpkin Pancake Mix also makes amazing pumpkin muffins? Spice up your favorite pancake or waffle mix with one of our flavored syrups, like Pure Maple, Roasted Pecan Syrup, or Apple Butter Syrup! We are also introducing a new Banana Caramel Pancake Mix and a Belgian Waffle Mix, which, when paired with one of those syrups, stacks up even more Fall flavor! Plus, don’t forget to stock up on jars of Apple and Pumpkin Butter to enjoy all season long.

The Old Mill Restaurant

At The Old Mill Restaurant we make Smoky Mountain comfort food that gives you a true taste of Tennessee! From our take on Chicken and Dumplings to Turkey and Cornbread Dressing or Pot Roast, you’ll find plenty of hearty menu options for the season.

Each dinner entree is served with a garden fresh side salad, a cup of our Signature Corn Chowder, warm Corn Fritters served with our Maple Butter, and family-style servings of green beans and mashed potatoes. And, did you know that our mashed potatoes are the real deal? Starting with large russet potatoes, we peel and dice, then them cook up in 50-pound batches! That’s just how we do things around here!

We then offer the perfect way to end your meal with a choice of dessert. We are pretty partial to the Pecan Pie (we serve thousands of slices each year!). Oh wait, maybe it's the Cobbler served warm with homemade ice cream! No, it's the Chocolate Cake with an inch-thick layer of chocolate icing!

The Pottery House Cafe

When you walk into The Pottery House Cafe you are immediately captivated by the aroma of fresh baked bread, and you take comfort when seated by a warm, welcoming fire in the original stacked stone fireplace. The restaurant was originally built as a home for the potter who started making pottery next door in the late 1940’s. So we want you to feel at home.

We have a selection of fresh, home-cooked soups like Loaded Baked Potato or White Chicken Chili, which taste even better in one of our freshly-baked bread bowls. Made-to-order hearty sandwiches are served on handcrafted pottery, and the bread is always fresh because we baked it just hours before you enjoy it. Don’t forget to save room for dessert! Pumpkin Cream Pie is our version of a classic with creamy pumpkin filling, topped with whipped cream and gingersnap crumbles! Best of all, each of our house-made desserts are available whole or by the slice to take home with you.

We hope that you not only experience the beauty of Fall at The Old Mill, but that your senses are awakened by the crisp mountain air with hints of warm spices in the breeze, and that your taste buds are delighted by A Flavorful Fall.
